Have I ever told you that John thinks he has a "baby face"? He seems to be under the impression that his facial hair doesn't grow very much/fast, and as a result he also thinks he doesn't need to shave regularly.
Um, neither of those things are true. He is a Scruffy-McScrufferstein. I just thought I should record that somewhere.
We are also getting pretty interested in what this little baby nugget is going to look like. Those conversations mostly revolve around whether it's a boy or girl. Did you know there are non-medical ultrasound places that will tell you the gender of your baby at 14 weeks?! Um, yeah, that's a month and a half before the doctor tells you. A MONTH AND A HALF, PEOPLE!! The only thing is, they also do those creepy 3D and 4D ultrasounds. Which kind of freak me out. I mean, I've seen picture of what a baby looks like at 14 weeks, and it. is. creepy. I reeeallllly don't want to spend $50 to look at my freaky alien baby for twenty minutes. I just got over the morning sickness and nausea.
Is that rude to say?!
Anyway, that's where we're at these days. Nothing new or fun or exciting. Just a lot of naps and conversations about how the heck we're going to [1] have a baby, [2] move to law school, and [3] figure out the rest of our lives, all in the next eight months. Any suggestions?!
Also, in case you were wondering, eating white rice with taco bell mild sauce and washing it down with nilla wafers dipped in chocolate frosting is a BAD idea.

christmas cards.
Speaking of holiday greetings... I did have a cute card made up for John and I to send out for Christmas. Unfortunately, I never took it to the printer. Life sort of got a little crazy around Thanksgiving: LSAT, packing, graduation, finding out about the baby nugget, moving... you know, crazy.
So, instead of leaving the card in limbo on my desktop, I'm going to share it here. To remind myself how on top of things I am. ;)
[You can tell I totally jumped on the chalkboard-trend bandwagon.]
Merry Christmas!! love, the Orr's

shoes.
My mom recently sent out some "New Years" cards, because we kind of dropped the ball on Christmas cards this year. Ok... I dropped the ball on thinking of a cute idea and having everything ready to take a family picture at Thanksgiving. So we just procrastinated. It's what we're good at.
We thought we'd just let it go, and try again next Christmas, but then my mom got a cute idea for a card we could send out late. This is what it was:
Kickin' off the new year!! Get it?! Because we're all in our new kicks. Hahahhahahahaaha.
She got a lot of phone calls wondering why John didn't get new Converse shoes like the rest of us... but he did. John's shoes are just all black, soles and everything. These black shoes are also the very first pair of "chucks" that John has ever owned. Unbelievable, right?! So we kind of had to let him pick whichever pair he wanted. The rest of us didn't have a choice.
My mom also got a lot of phone calls about something else. Can you guess what?!
Yep!! That's right. We're in for quite the adventure this year. Wish us luck!

nice try, sydney.
So, originally, my plan was to blog every day. But then I realized that we are two veeerrrryy boring people. (For example: Today, I am still in my pajamas.)
Now I think I'll shoot for at least once a week. That will ensure that there's at least something worth blogging about. Even if it's just a recap on how boring our week was.
Here are the basics from the last several days...
1.) John had an interview for a job out in North Las Vegas. And they want him to go back on Friday. Point for John.
2.) My mom volunteered me to make cloth napkins for a rehearsal dinner next Friday. I should probably learn how to use my new serger... Like, how to turn it on would be a good start.
3.) I got to hang out with my lovely friend Julia and her handsome little flirtatious Troy-boy. Seriously, hide your baby girls -- the kid's a stud!!
4.) John wants to go indoor sky diving. Just the thought of it makes me cringe.
5.) We decided to read the Book of Mormon together, again. We really fell off the scripture-reading bandwagon last year, and only a couple weeks in and we're already feeling the love and blessings! So wonderful.
Have I mentioned that John got an iPad for Christmas? Well, he did. And it has changed my life!! Haha. I use it alllll the time. Sometimes I even steal it right out from under his nose. But, hey, sharing is caring. And whenever he wants to learn how to sew and use all my cool fancy stuff, I'll totally let him watch me help!
And finally, enjoy the very first, awkward, self-portrait we took on the iPad on Christmas morning.

lazy-face.
merry christmas. happy new year. let's go take a nap.
that's about how our holiday season has been. [it's still the holidays when you don't have a job to go back to.] we DID get all of our stuff down from Rexburg safely and packed into a storage unit. my brother and John did most of the work... but I had to man the elevator, so that counts. there are still several suitcases and boxes of clothes that need to be sorted and put away. it's my least favorite part of moving, and so it will probably take a month before I'm completely done.
in other news, we have officially applied to nine law schools. [the credit card only says seven, so I'll have to look into that.] but would you like to know where?! i knew you would. [haha.] in order of preference:
The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law
University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law
University of Virginia School of Law [but if he gets in here, we have to go. done deal.]
William & Mary Law School
University of Colorado Law School
University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law
Wake Forest University School of Law
The Pennsylvania State University, Dickinson School of Law
Case Western Reserve University School of Law
so, this is MY preference, mostly. I did consult John a little, but he's playing video games, so I'm not sure how much he actually understood what I was asking. [video games are also something that you can do when you don't have a job.] we should start getting answers in the next six to eight weeks, hopefully. so PLEASE keep your fingers crossed for us. this school will determine not only where we'll be for the next three years, but also the region that we'll have to stay in for several years after that for John to work. I'm not sure if you've noticed, but there aren't a whole lot of available jobs out there for lawyers. :( we're also still waiting to apply to a couple more safety schools, but John sent a few e-mails asking for fee-waivers that we're waiting to get responses to. so we figure we've got a pretty good shot at going SOMEWHERE. just, pray for us anyway. we'd really appreciate it.
as a reward for reading this much nonsense, here is the annual Woodbury Family Christmas Eve Pajama picture:
oh, yeah. JOHN GRADUATED!! and we have proof. it's blurry, but it's proof.
